The Exide Premium battery series represents the flagship segment in the renowned Exide brand’s offer. The Premium lines are acclaimed for their high-quality construction, reliability, and modern technological solutions that ensure a long service life even under intensive use. Within the Premium series, models with higher specifications, designed for vehicles demanding extreme performance, stand out, as do those with slightly lower parameters that perform well under standard operating conditions. The higher-end models offer a better power-to-capacity ratio, resulting in a higher cranking current and greater resistance to deep discharges. In contrast, the more budget-friendly variants of this series may be attractive in terms of price, but they do not always achieve the same high performance as their more expensive counterparts.
The EA955 model is a representative of the Premium series that stands out with its impressive technical parameters. This lead-acid battery has a capacity of 95 Ah and is capable of delivering a maximum cranking current of 800 A. Such performance makes the EA955 ideally suited for vehicles with high starting requirements, especially under harsh climatic conditions. Its dimensions are 306 mm in length, 173 mm in width, and 222 mm in height, which makes it very close to the standard D31 size (305x173x225 mm). Despite slight differences, such as a marginally greater length and a slightly lower height, this battery can be classified within the standard size group commonly used in both Europe and Asian countries.
An interesting aspect of the EA955 model is its non-standard pole arrangement – the positive pole is located on the left side, which may require extra attention during installation. Additionally, the battery is equipped with a less common mounting system known as Korean B1. This type of mounting utilizes a lower mounting strip along the longer sides of the battery, a solution characteristic of some models designed for the specific requirements of Asian markets.
Compared to competitive models, the EA955 fares very well. For example, the Bosch S40 29 from the S4 series and the Varta Blue Dynamic G8 offer a similar capacity of 95 Ah and a maximum cranking current of 830 A.
