A notable feature of the LP155 is its non-standard terminal layout. The battery features the positive terminal on the left-hand side, which is the opposite of most European car battery designs where the positive terminal is usually located on the right. This reversed layout must be carefully checked before installation to ensure proper cable reach and configuration. Furthermore, the LP155 uses type 3 terminals, commonly known as “Japanese thin posts,” which are narrower than the standard European posts. These posts are specifically designed for vehicles manufactured for the Asian market and require matching clamps or adapters for proper installation in vehicles with standard European terminal clamps.
Another important aspect of the Lucas LP155 is its mounting base. This battery has a B0 base configuration, which means it does not feature the traditional mounting ledge at the bottom. Since the LP155 is a traditional flooded lead-acid battery, it is not intended for vehicles equipped with start-stop systems, which require EFB or AGM technology to handle frequent engine restarts and deeper cycling demands. Nonetheless, for standard combustion engine vehicles without start-stop technology, the LP155 offers a reliable and cost-effective solution, especially for drivers who require a battery suited to narrower, taller battery compartments typically seen in Asian vehicle designs.
