For petrol engines like the 55 TFSI (250 kW) or 55 TFSI e (280 kW) Hybrid, batteries with a capacity between 70 and 72 Ah and cranking current from 720 to 760 A are required. Examples of compatible models include Bosch S5A 08, Exide EK700, and Varta E39.
Diesel engines such as the 45 TDI (170 kW) and 50 TDI (210 kW) also use batteries with similar parameters. For larger units like the 3.0 TDI Ultra (160 kW) or 3.0 TDI (200 kW), models with higher capacity (95-96 Ah) and a cranking current of 850 A are recommended. Examples include Bosch S5A 13, Exide EK950, and Varta G14.
The most demanding versions, such as the SQ7 TDI (320 kW) or 3.0 TDI e-tron (275 kW), require batteries with capacities reaching up to 106 Ah and cranking currents up to 950 A. Suitable models include Bosch S5A 15, Exide EK1060, and Varta H15.
Interestingly, AGM batteries perform exceptionally well in vehicles with Start-Stop systems, which demand frequent engine restarts. They also offer better vibration resistance and are more eco-friendly due to reduced electrolyte leakage risk. When choosing a battery, paying attention to the manufacturer’s reputation ensures long-lasting and trouble-free use.
