Citroen C1 II (2014-2022) – batteries

The choice of the right battery for the Citroen C1 II (2014-2022) depends on the engine version and the presence of the Start-Stop system. Models with 1.0 VTi 68 (51 kW), 1.0 VTi 72 (53 kW), and 1.2 PureTech 82 (60 kW) engines without the Start-Stop system use lead-acid batteries with a capacity of 40 to 44 Ah and a cold cranking amperage (CCA) ranging from 320 to 420 A. Example compatible models include Bosch S30 00, Exide EB440, Lucas LP202, and Varta A16. These are traditional batteries suitable for daily driving without significant electrical demands.

If your Citroen C1 is equipped with a Start-Stop system, the battery requirements are higher. The 1.0 VTi 68 and 1.0 VTi 72 versions with this system require EFB batteries with a capacity of 60 to 65 Ah and a CCA of 560-640 A. Example models include Bosch S4 E05, Exide EL600, and Varta D53. EFB batteries are more technologically advanced and better handle the frequent engine starts typical of Start-Stop systems.

Interestingly, the Citroen C1 II, though small and economical, incorporates technology tailored for urban conditions. The Start-Stop system helps reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions but demands more advanced batteries. For those using a version without this system, regular battery charging can significantly extend its lifespan, especially during the winter months.

When purchasing, it’s essential to pay attention to the battery’s exact dimensions and ensure the chosen model fits the specific version of the car. Even the most advanced battery won’t function properly if it doesn’t fit securely in the vehicle.

Citroen C1 in version II was produced in the years 2014 – 2022. We invite you to a list of batteries matching individual engine versions.

The above three petrol engines of the Citroen C1 II, namely 1.0 VTi 68 (51 kW) ,1.0 VTi 72 (53 kW) and 1.2 PureTech 82 (60 kW), will perform best with batteries of at least 38 Ah capacity. We recommend choosing higher-end battery models for cars with a large number of optional extras. The weakest of these is the battery Exide Classic EC400 which capacity is 40 Ah and Cold Cranking Amps is 320 A. The most powerful battery is Bosch S4 S40 00 of a capacity 44Ah and Cold Cranking Amps: 420 A. All of the above motors have a base hold-down B13.
