As you can see, in case of Kia Sportage III, even the basic parameters of the batteries (battery layout, terminal types and base hold-down) are not identical for all engine versions. For this reason, care must be taken to match the battery to a specific engine.
For these petrol engines, we recommend batteries with dimensions of 230x173x222 mm or 232x173x225 mm and a capacity exceeding 55 Ah. The weakest of these is the battery Exide Excell EB605 which capacity is 60 Ah and Cold Cranking Amps is 390 A. The most powerful battery is Varta Blue Dynamic D48 of a capacity 60Ah and Cold Cranking Amps: 540 A.
For the Kia Sportage III with a 1.6 GDI gasoline engine, we choose batteries with dimensions of 230x173x222 mm or 232x173x225 mm, whose capacity exceeds 47 Ah. The weakest of these is the battery Exide Excell EB604 which capacity is 60 Ah and Cold Cranking Amps is 390 A. The most powerful battery is Exide Premium EA654 of a capacity 65Ah and Cold Cranking Amps: 580 A.
Owning a Kia Sportage III with a 1.6 GDI engine and Start-Stop system means there is a need to use more expensive batteries made with EFB technology. Matching batteries have dimensions 278x175x190 mm. The parameters of these batteries are at least 70 Ah of a capacity and 650 A CCA (Cold Cranking Amps). All of the above motors have a base hold-down B13.
These diesel engines should work with batteries of dimensions 306x173x222 mm or 306x173x225 mm, which capacity is minimum 90 Ah. The most basic battery of this set is Exide Excell EB954 of a capacity 95Ah and 720A Cold Cranking Amps, the battery with the biggest capacity is Varta Blue Dynamic G7 of a capacity 95 Ah, having 830A Cold Cranking Amps.
The diesel engines of the Kia Sportage III listed above have a Start-Stop system, and in this case, this means that we must use batteries produced in AGM technology. The dimensions of batteries suitable for 1.7 CRDi, 2.0 CRDi and 2.0 CRDi AWD engines vary slightly among different manufacturers and are: 315x175x190 mm or 317x175x190 mm. The parameters of these batteries are at least 80 Ah of a capacity and 800 A CCA (Cold Cranking Amps). All the batteries in the list above have a base hold-down B13. If you’re still unsure which battery fits your Kia Sportage III , or if you want to help others in their selection, please send us a photo of your current battery in the comment section at the bottom of the page. You can also send the picture to contact@whatbattery.co.uk (we will place it in the comments to also help other users). Be sure to specify the car model, year, type, as well as the engine capacity and power. We’ll do our best to assist you!
